Much
of the planning, organizing and operating of our synagogue is done
through
committees. If you would like to volunteer to serve on any of
the standing committee
(descriptions listed below) please call the temple office 723-7461
Temple Israel Committee
Descriptions
ADULT
EDUCATION- This committee organizes adult education programs that
meet the
goals
of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism and sustains and
strengthens
Judaism
within the congregation.

CARING
COMMUNITY-This committee addresses the special needs in the
Congregation.
Chair:
Bernie Segel
FUND
RAISING- This committee raises money through a series of special events
and projects.

ENDOWMENT-
This committee solicits contributions to the Endowment Fund through
lifetime
memberships
and other methods.
Co-Chairs:

SIMCHA
TREE- This committee solicits the purchase of leaves for the Simcha
Tree.
Chairperson:
NEEDED
HOUSE-
This committee supervises and directs the proper maintenance of the
congregation's
buildings and grounds, and recommends to the Board of Trustees rules
and
regulations
governing their use. It organizes and recruits volunteers for clean-up
and fix-up
projects.

KITCHEN-
This committee supervises and directs the use of the synagogue kitchens
and
issues
instruction for their use. This committee shall take measures necessary
to ensure that
Kashrut
is strictly observed and maintained.

MEMBERSHIP-
This committee makes the Jewish community aware of Temple Israel and
communicates
with potential members for the purpose of inviting them to join. It
provides an
orientation
and welcoming activities for new members. The committee also takes
steps to
retain
members and encourage their participation in congregational activities.
It reviews
resignations
from the congregation and reports on them to the Board of Trustees.

RITUAL-
This committee determines matters pertaining to ritual and religious
practices of
Temple
Israel. It coordinates aliyot, schedules haftorah readers, High
Holidays honors and
assures
that all religious aspects of the Temple are conducted properly and
smoothly.

RELIGIOUS
SCHOOL- In conjunction with the principal, this committee assures that
the
Religious
School functions in an effective manner and that the goals and
curriculum are
appropriate
and complete.

Cemetary
Commitee: This comittee overseas that syangogue cemetary.
Chair

Mitzvah
Committee: This committee prepares a meal of consolation for
mourners after the
funeral
Chairs:

Chevra
Kaddisha: This committee performs the mitzvah of Tahara for those who
have passed
away.

PUBLICITY-
This committee is responsible for making sure all Temple activities are
relayed to
the
Jewish community through the Reporter and to the general public through
the Press &
Sun
Bulletin.
